GERMAN LIFE-SAVING SERVICE

GERMAN LIFE-SAVING SERVICE (Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e.V. – DLRG) is a relief NGO for life saving in Germany, founded in 1913 and based in Bad Nenndorf. With almost 560.000 members in approximately 2.100 local groups, the DLRG is the largest voluntary water rescue organization in the world. In 2016, the international maritime organization IMRF has actively coordinated its European members for the promotion of the ‘Aegean Project’ at the request of the Greek Coast Guard: DLRG was on the Greek island of Lesvos to save people from drowning with a lifeboat. DLRG team was part of the crew of the DGzRS NGO rescue cruiser “Minden” and collaborated with Hellenic Rescue Team.
